JapDay 2016 Show Report
2 June — 2016

Saturday 14th May 2016, marked the first ever Japday event, held at Castle Combe and for most Japanese car enthusiasts, the first show of the season.

Everyone knows that getting to Combe and getting parked is one of the biggest challenges for what is a fairly small venue however on arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find that public parking was available by Quarry corner which certainly made for a better start to the day.

Club parking seemed to have been limited between Westway, Camp Corner and The Esses so not sure if this was down to lack of commitment/availability or a conscious decision by the organisers. The track action was good to watch with a varied mix of marques, with most groups being fronted by a couple of 2015 Civic Type R’s really being pushed to their limits! Public sessions were then followed by a number of drift sessions by the Drift Outlaws putting on quite the show…… sidewards of course.

The retail village was full of the usual suspects with Banzai, Kode, Fiberworx, A Plan Insurance and Auto Perfections.

The day had more of a relaxed, laid back vibe compared to some of the other events throughout the year but all in all, a good first milestone for JapDay. Good luck to the organisers for next year and hope it gets bigger and better.
