BOVC Sprucefield Classic
25 April — 2013

Sunday, the 21st of April saw the Banbridge Old Vehicle Club, in association with Sprucefield Retail Park, hold their annual Classic Car Show. Also on the day was part of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs drive it day. This encouraged anyone with a classic car to come and join them. It just makes me wish I had my Golf!

Dodging the heavy rain showers, I packed up my gear and went out for a few snaps. The range of vehicles on show was just staggering, ranging from old war machinery, to old fire engines, to Mk2 Golfs all the way up to more modern classics like the RS Focus.

I didn’t get many shots as the cars were so tightly packed, a sign that the classic car scene over here in Northern Ireland is far from dying! My trusty Sigma 10-20mm got some use this day.

Many cars that were there were near Concours standards in my opinion. I know Concours standards are very high, but the rebuild factor and time spent on most of these cars was second to none. Highlights of the show for me, personally, were the Audi Quattro Coupe, the immaculate RS Sierra Cosworth & its’ smaller brother the Escort Cosworth looking resplendent in Imperial Blue.

I think you’ll agree with me in saying that all the cars so far have been stunning. It’s hard to pick a favourite, although I have one car left to show you…

I love the older cars and this one caught my eye straight off the bat. Fully restored Fiat (unfortunately I didn’t catch the model number,) But it’s quite rare indeed. Lovely car!

Thanks for looking at this report, hopefully there will be many more.

Alan.
